Krav Maga Touring and Training in Israel: The Institute Experience,Day 1

Krav Maga Touring and Training in Israel: The Institute Experience, Day 1 By Nithin Bopanna.

A brief hello from the flash hotel lobby at the close of Day 1 of the Krav Maga Touring and Training event in sunny Israel.

Eight of the Institute of Krav Maga UK crew arrived yesterday to a warm welcome from Institute Instructor Jon Bullock at Tel Aviv Airport, which was followed by an 80’s music themed cab journey to our hotel in Netanya, food far superior to that served on the plane and an early night.

Registration this morning introduced us to fellow Krav Maga enthusiasts from a staggering 13 countries and of course, head of Krav Maga Global, Eyal Yanilov. Eyal then accompanied us to the beach to warm up for the day, with some light exercises that incorporated Primal Move and basic striking. A cool-off in the sea and a falafel break later and we were ready to bus over to the world-famous Wingate Institute of Physical Education, where further foundational techniques were honed including avoiding stick attacks, ground fighting, and our much loved 2 on 1 stress drills. Highlight of the day was Institute of Krav Maga UK Essex member Patrick Hards being sat on by Eyal for what must have seemed like hours during the demo, his tears only matched by ours as we laughed. A lot.

It has been a hugely rewarding experience so far to work under the watchful eye of Eyal and Jon today, and we are looking forward to picking up more training knowledge and hard earned Krav Maga make-up (think black & blue) as the tour continues… I’ll leave it there for now. Cheers, Nithin.
