Personal Safety and Security Training

Due to the continual increase of violent crime, it is becoming increasingly important to provide your personnel with the relevant skills in order for them to be able to avoid, prevent or deal confidently with a situation of conflict.

There is a basic level of personal safety training which can be of benefit even in safe environments such as the UK or Western Europe. For example, knife crime is on the rise in the UK and the use of edged weapons in assaults in London, in particular, has been identified by the Metropolitan Police Force as a major, city-wide problem.

Indeed, the statistics speak for themselves:
2005 Crime Statistics:
  • Crime involving edged-weapons increased by 73% in UK in 2005
  • Each day last year saw 115 knife-point muggings per day, compared with 67 a day in 2005
  • Wounds involving knives were up 14% in 2005 to 32,820
  • There were 1,046,437 offences of violence against the person recorded by the police in 2006/07

    • Our personal safety & security course aims to ensure that attendees leave with a better understanding of situational awareness and the avoidance of potentially dangerous scenarios arising from everyday situations by taking a two-pronged approach.

    Firstly, attendees are taught about personal security measures that are applicable in daily life. Secondly, the course presents the basic training needed for dealing with problematic situations, through the use of both verbal and physical intervention skills.

    Through comprehensive training, we aim to emphasise that any action taken must be necessary, reasonable and justified.

    Our basic personal safety course would aim to ensure that your personnel come away with a higher level of situational awareness and an understanding of basic tips to avoid putting themselves in danger and would also serve as a team-building exercise resulting in improved confidence, morale, performance and productivity.

    The course can be delivered at your place of business over an intense six hour period during the working day, or can be spread over a period of four weeks after working hours, one evening per week. The course can also be tailored to meet the needs of specific groups or team members within your company.

    For example, a women-only course would include scenarios commonly experienced by lone women travelling to and from work as well as some of the practical skills needed to deal with attacks by male assailants.

    Furthermore, US personnel, or those travelling to the US would benefit from some training specifically dealing with gun crime, given the higher levels of firearm use in attacks in that country.
